6 days – Mt Meru – Meru route

On your arrival at Kilimanjaro Int. Airport, Our driver-guide will happily pick you from the airport to the hotels in Arusha. Drive will take 1hr.

After breakfast at the hotel in Arusha, we drive to the Momella Gate. At the Gate we will have to go through the registration process, then our trek will officially begin with full armed rangers escotting us. Along the way we can see wild animals like Zebra, giraffe, elephants, monkeys and antelope. A distance of 10km is to be covered today, with the walking time of 5-6hrs. We elevate from 6,850 tf to Miriakamba Hut that stands 8,370 ft high.

We will camp at Miriakamba Hut for dinner and overnight.

Distance - 5 - 6hrs from Momella Gate to Miriakamba Hut.  

Today's hike is reasonably short by the steep climb below the little Meru. 3 -5hrs of walking time will take us through the astonishing view of Meru Crater and the miraculous Ash Cone. After a delicious lunch at Saddle Hut we continue with a short trek to the summit of the little Meru that stands 3,820 metres high, for a fantastic view just before sunset, then back to Saddle Hut for dinner and overnight.

A good rest is advised as tomorrow will be a summit day and it gets a little tough.

Distance - 3-5hrs from Miriakamba Hut to Saddle Hut.

Today, we start up early around 1.00am. Our first challenge will be to climb a steep Rhino point that stands 3,800 metres and then followed by the Cobra point 4,350 metres. After covering a distance of 5km with the walking time of 2-4hrs  under the spectacular narrow ridgeline between the sheer inner cliffs and the sloping outer outer wall of the crater. 

At the Meru Peak, we enjoy our beautiful view, celebrating our accomplishments while taking photos of the life-time memories. Then after we descend down to Saddle Hut for Lunch and a short break before going down to Miriakamba Hut for dinner and overnight. It's also a good chance to give back `Tip ́ to our helpful trekking crew ( Guide, Asst.Guide, Chief and Porters).

Distance - 10 - 12hrs from Saddle Hut to Summit to Miriakamba Hut.

We take an easy walk to Momella Gate, A decent way through open grassland and mixed forest, with a possibility of seeing wild animals before reaching Momella Gate in the late morning. Our private Safari vehicle will be waiting at the Gate to take you back to the Hotel inArusha.

Distance - 3 - 5hrs from Miriakamba to Momella Gate to Arusha.

After a pleasant night rest in your hotel in Arusha, you will be served breakfast a little late within a checking-out time at 10.00am ( feel free to add more days in Arusha under your cost and please inform us in advance)

If you have booked a transfer to the airport, you will be picked from the hotel by our driver and dropped at the Airport. For those travellers who booked to go to Safari our Guide will meet you in the hotel during the evening to provide you  info regarding Safari.
