Tour Plan

  • Day 01: Dar es Salaam – Morogoro (SGR Transfer & Overnight Near Mikumi)
Your journey begins with a noon or early evening departure from Dar es Salaam aboard the modern SGR train to Morogoro. This comfortable and scenic ride offers a unique perspective of Tanzania’s landscapes, passing through rural countryside, open plains, and small local communities. Upon arrival at Morogoro train station, you will be warmly welcomed by your driver-guide and transferred by road to your lodge located near the boundary of Mikumi National Park. The drive from Morogoro to Mikumi introduces you to the natural beauty of the region, with glimpses of the Uluguru Mountains and surrounding savannah landscapes. As you approach the park area, the environment becomes more serene and wildlife sightings may even begin along the way. Arrive at your lodge in the evening, where you can relax and enjoy dinner in a peaceful setting close to nature. The sounds of the African night—distant animal calls and rustling trees—set the tone for your safari experience. Overnight at your lodge bordering Mikumi National Park.
  • Day 02: Full Day Mikumi National Park Safari (Game Drive & Overnight)
After an early breakfast, depart for a full-day game drive inside Mikumi National Park, one of Tanzania’s most accessible and wildlife-rich parks. Often compared to the Serengeti due to its open plains, Mikumi offers excellent opportunities to spot a wide range of animals. As you explore the park, you may encounter lions resting in the grass, elephants moving in herds, giraffes browsing trees, and zebras and wildebeest grazing across the plains. The Mkata Floodplain is a highlight, attracting a variety of wildlife and offering clear, open views ideal for photography. Birdlife is also abundant, making it a rewarding experience for bird enthusiasts. Enjoy a picnic lunch at a designated site within the park, allowing you to stay immersed in the wilderness. In the afternoon, continue your game drive, exploring different areas and increasing your chances of spotting more wildlife, including buffalo and possibly elusive predators. Return to your lodge in the late afternoon for relaxation, dinner, and overnight, reflecting on a day filled with exciting wildlife encounters.
  • Day 03: Mikumi – Morogoro – Dar es Salaam (SGR Return, End of Service)
After breakfast, enjoy a relaxed morning at your lodge before preparing for your return journey. Depending on your train schedule, you will depart for Morogoro train station, enjoying a scenic drive back through the countryside. Upon arrival at the station, board the SGR train for your journey back to Dar es Salaam. The comfortable ride offers time to relax and reflect on your safari experience, taking in the passing landscapes one last time. Arrive in Dar es Salaam, marking the end of your memorable Mikumi safari adventure.
