It is the most popular way up to the highest peak in Africa, also the shortest one. It’s the only route with emergency evacuation services and by far the only route offering the dormitory style huts with the dining rooms. Weather and temperature vary according to the season in which you decide to climb; and, whichever season you choose, both vary according to the altitude. While it might be 20 C down in the rainforest section of the climb, up in the crater the temperature could be as low as -20 C. Climbers must be prepared for these huge variations, choosing their clothing accordingly. A waterproof should be close to hand at all times and layers of clothing used to maximise flexibility.

ay 1

KILIMANJARO INT. AIRPORT TO ARUSHA.

On your arrival at Kilimanjaro Int. Airport, Our driver-guide will happily pick you from the airport to the hotels in Arusha. Drive will take 1hr.

Day 2

ARUSHA TO MARANGU GATE TO MANDARA HUT.

We start the day by an early breakfast from the hotel at 7.00am, followed by a drive to Marangu Gate where we will spend approximately 2hrs for registration process and final parking of our trekking gears. From there we start the climb through semi-tropical forest, in the rainforest , look for towering Eucalyptus trees, bird life and Colobus Monkeys. In this lower slopes it can be wet and muddy, so gaiters and climbing poles will help, Keep your warm clothes and rain gear handy, but shorts and T-shirts should be enough.

A pause on our half-way will be applied for a picnic lunch, before continuing to climb towards Mandara Hut. A total distance just over 8km is to be covered with the walking time between 3 – 4hrs, We expect to be at Mandara Hut around 17.00 and dinner will be served at 19.30. As our accommodation we be offered in the dormitories, we advise you to bring earplugs.

Day 3

MANDARA HUT TO HOROMBO HUT.

Today breakfast is to be served at 7.30am, then pack for your next trek trip, we leave the camp around 8.30am and hike for an hour through the rainforest glades, then follow an ascending path through heathland where you can look for giant lobelias and groundsels. On the way we enjoy our picnic lunch before continuing our trek and reach Horombo Hut around 16.00. Dinner will be served at 18.00 followed by pleasant rest before overnight. On clear days it should be possible to see the snow-capped peak of Kibo and distinctive Mawenzi Peak.

Distance – 6hrs from Mandara to Horombo Hut.

Day 4

HOROMBO HUT TO KIBO HUT.

After breakfast, we ascending further to Kibo Hut, where land becomes more stony and eroded, its 9km in total to be covered with the walking distance of 4-5hrs,

On the way we will be served picnic lunch and then continuing with the climb towards the Mawenzi ridge and across the barren, dry terranes known as the Saddle.

Dinner today will be served at 17.30, Please be advised for an early sleep that will help you in the preparation for the challenging Summit day ahead.

Distance – 4 – 5hrs from Horombo Hut to Kibo Hut.

Day 5

KIBO HUT TO SUMMIT TO HOROMBO HUT.

We wake at midnight, take a light breakfast and proceed to the Summit through Gilman’s point that stands 18,640 ft high,

As it’s by far the most challenging part of the trek, today we focus on walking slow to cut off the reference points from Williams point 5131 metres to Hans Myer Cave 5259 and lastly Gillmaan´s point 5719 metres. After reaching the African highest Point, will of course cheer each other up, celebrating our glorious climb while taking photos of our pride, then after we set our return to Kibo Hut, where we will be welcomed by a hot lunch around 12.00, followed by a short break before continuing to descent down to Horombo Camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 6

HOROMBO HUT TO MARANGU GATE TO ARUSHA.

It’s the first morning from accomplishing the Real Deal. The feeling is still fresh! Breakfast is served at 7.00am and read to depart at 9.00am, before that its a good time to give back to our fantastic and helpful climbing crew `Tipping ́,

Then after we continue to descend further to Marangu Gate, we pause at Mandara for a delicious lunch around 12.00, we expect to reach Marangu Gate at 16.00 after covering a distance of 20km and between 6-7hrs be approximately the walking time. You will be awarded a Certificate to recognise the massive effort you have shown.

Our private Safari vehicle will be waiting for us at Marangu Gate, for a ride to the hotel in Arusha, where you will have a pleasant rest. After-all you have been to the highest point in Africa, feel free to continue the celebration if you still have the energy.

Day 7

ARUSHA TO KILIMANJARO INT. AIRPORT.

After a pleasant night at the hotel in Arusha, you will be served breakfast a little late within a checking-out time at 10.00am ( feel free to add more days in Arusha under your cost and please inform us in advance)

If you have booked a transfer to airport, you will be picked from the hotel by our driver and drop you at the Airport. For those travellers who booked to go to Safari, our Driver-Guide will meet you at the hotel for Safari briefing.
